The 5-4-3-2-1 Rule: How to pack smart & stylish for a week!
If you are like me, you tend to overpack. I always want to make sure I have the perfect outfit for any occasion when I'm on vacation. But this rule changed all that! The Rule of 5 made it so simple!
So, here is the rule of 5-4-3-2-1:
5 tops
4 bottoms
3 pairs of shoes/boots/sneakers
2 coats/jackets
1 set of accessories (jewelry, belts, purses, scarfs)
This combination of clothes gives you over 24 outfits to mix and match!
5 TOPS: versatility is key. Choose tops that can transition easily from day to evening. Think classic tees, button down shirts, sweaters, and blouses.
4 BOTTOMS: The jeans, pants, skirts that you pick should work with all 5 tops. Highly recommend that one of your bottoms be a favorite pair of jeans. One tailored pair of pants, and a dressy skirt.
3 PAIRS of SHOES: shoes take up the most space, so give your picks a lot of thought. Definitely include a comfortable walking shoe, a polished everyday look (think loafer), and one dressier shoe for evenings, or that special event. Keep the colors classic: think navy blue, creme, camel, taupe, neutral tones that go with everything.
2 COATS/JACKETS: think layering! Even in warmer climates you may still need something for a cooler night. In colder climates think one long jacket or overcoat.
1 ACCESSORIES: That finishing touch! Jewelry that makes a statement, a belt, purse, or scarf. Again, think neutrals! Less is more when it comes to jewelry!
